Evaluating Free and Open Source ERP, CRM, and groupware solutions
Well, we’ve tried phpgroupware, vtiger, and request-tracker and we’re still looking for that solution that really benefits us as a small company trying to coordinate tasks, contacts. projects, and resources but is open source and freely available.
First, here are the products that are already packaged in debian:
- phpgroupware (demo) – we tried this for a while but weren’t particularly satisfied.
- egroupware (demo) – as I recall the reason we tried phpgroupware over egroupware was that egroupware depended on various X libraries in debian.
- request-tracker – we used this for a whlie, some good points, some bad, but only focused on ticket tracking and we need much more.
- tiny-erp – an anomoly for not being web-based but instead written in python as a client/server app. There is a claim that SSL will be supported in the next release.
- kolab – not really what we need
- twig (demo) – not really what we need
- facturalux – didn’t try
Here are some others that have caught my eye:
- vtiger (demo)
- hipergate (demo) – I tried the demo out and liked what I saw. The layout seemed nice, it has resource management, and it seems like the pieces talk well with each other. Still it’s really difficult to get a sense of how this would work in use.
- TUTOS (demo) – Looked nice back a while back but the devlopment seems slow.
- SugarCRM
- Cream
